5th Maruti-Suzuki Raid-de-Himalaya 2003 ends with a triumph of man and machine over the harsh realities of the Himalayas

- The FINAL day sees Sunny Sidhu and Sukhjinder Singh Rana, win the X-treme category of Cars and Bikers respectively with Sirish Chandran bagging the crown in the 'Reliability' category -

Manali, October 11, 2003: The 5th Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalaya, came to a grand end today at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Manali. Starting on 7th October 2003, from Hotel Peter Hoff, Shimla the 4 day Marutu Suzuki Raid-de-Himalaya was the ultimate test human endurance and mechanical geniuses against the complexities of the serene mountains. The winners at the end of this adventourous competetion declared today in the three different categories are- Sunny Sidhu (Car Number 6- Gypsy MPI), in the X-treme Cars category, Sukhjinder Rana (Bike number 54- Fiero F2) in the X-treme Bikers category and Sirish Chandran (Car Number 25- Alto Spin) in the newly introduced Reliability category.

The Prize distribution ceremony for the winners was done at the Himalyan Mountaineering Institute, Manali today by, Major Vijai Singh Mankotia, Honourable Minister for Tourism, Government of Himachal Pradesh. The 5th Maruti-Suzuki Raid-De-Himalaya, India's most arduous motorsport event is held, under the aegis of Himalayan Motorsport Association. A Maruti 800 (driven by Yashpal Sharma, Car No- 11) was also amongst the final cars to make it to the finish of the Xtreme Cars category. This fact highlights the reliability and ruggedness of India's largest selling car.
